{lindsay & ryan married} grand rapids, michigan wedding photographer

Lindsay & Ryan were married on August 7.  Darin and I had a blast shooting this wedding.  Ryan, Lindsay, their wedding party and family were so much fun.  The ceremony took place at Parish of the Holy Spirit. The wedding party took a party bus out to Holland to take pictures and then we ended the night at Egypt Valley Country Club.  Flowers and decor were by Creative Events of Michigan. Everything was beautiful.  Congrats Lindsay & Ryan!!

{family session} emily rae photography – grand rapids, michigan

I did an adoption family session for the Ellens family a month or so ago.  This family session was so fun.  One of the things that’s really important to me is giving back.  One way I do this is by running a special for families that have recently adopted.  I think adoption is so beautiful!  And adopting is something I hope Darin & I are able to do someday ourselves :)  So if you’ve adopted in the last 6 months, shoot me an email @ emily@emilyraephotography.com and I’ll let you know what the deal entails.

adrianna – newborn photography

Adrianna was a few weeks old when we did her newborn session.  Adrianna’s parents, Matt and Jen, are very good friends of ours and they live in Chicago. I was so excited when Jen called to tell me that she would be in Rockford with Adrianna for a few days.  We did the session at Jen’s parents home in Rockford.  The live in a gorgeous old farm house and Jen’s mom has decorated the home with all kinds of antiques.  There were so many fun props to choose from! It was a gorgeous night and plenty warm, so we were able to do a lot of photographs outside, which was so much fun.  Thanks for allowing me to capture Adrianna, Matt & Jen, she is so beautiful!!

{nicole & darren married} {Grand Rapids Wedding Photographer}

Nicole’s Mom, Diane, called me last winter as she was helping Nicole plan a wedding in Grand Rapids.  Nicole and Darren live in Utah and decided to get married in Grand Rapids.  Nicole was coming into town a few days later and we were able to meet, although Nicole was a bit jet lagged! This couple was so much fun to work with.  They were so laid back and relaxed, which made photographing their wedding so much fun.   We started the day at Tanaz salon downtown.  They did a fabulous job. Next we met Darren at the JW Marriot were they were staying for some fun “formal” photos.  Nicole and Darren opted to take some more relaxed pictures before getting dressed for the ceremony & reception. We then headed to Frederik Meijer Gardens (which just happens to be one of my favorite places to photograph weddings).  The location is gorgeous and the staff there are great!

Nicole is reaching into her pocket for Darren’s ring.  I just loved how her dress had pockets!

{sarah & jordan – married} Grand Rapids, Michigan Wedding Photographer

Sarah and Jordan were married June 26, 2010 at Thornapple Pointe Golf Club.  I’d actually never met Sarah or Jordan, as our only contact had been over the phone and email as they were both planning the wedding long distance.  We clicked right away and this couple was so much fun to work with.  I met Sarah at their hotel room at the Amway Grand Plaza where she was getting ready.

Sarah and Jordan didn’t see each other the day of the wedding and Jordan had left his sweet note for Sarah in the hotel room.

The ceremony was beautiful.  It overlooked the golf course and the weather was perfect! These next shots were taken just before sunset.  This is my absolute favorite time of day to take pictures and I love it when a bride and groom are willing to take a little break during the reception and get some photos. The backdrop was just beautiful.Congrats Sarah & Jordan.  Thanks for letting Darin and I be part of your wedding day!

{twin newborn session} – Grand Rapids Newborn Photographer

I photographed this twin session a few weeks ago.  I was excited because this is actually the first time I’ve had the opportunity to photograph twins.  I did an adoption session with Grace, the boy’s older sister over the winter and have been looking forward to photographing Caleb and Eli.  The boys did great and so did their sister Grace, who I had to snap a few more photos of.

{elizabeth & will married} Grand Rapids Wedding Photographer – Emily Rae Photography

Elizabeth and Will were married on June 5th at the home of Elizabeth’s family.  It was a beautiful day.  The rain held off all day for this outdoor ceremony and reception.  Just as Elizabeth and Will left the reception it began to pour!  Elizabeth and Will were great to work with and the love between each other and their family and friends was obvious.  This was also a fun wedding because it was the first time I’ve had my husband, Darin, assist/2nd shoot for me.  He did a fantastic job, so good in fact, that he’s now my official 2nd shooter.

Elizabeth and her matron of honor got their hair done at the Nathan Andrew Salon in Allegan. Not only did they do a fabulous job, this salon is so cool inside.  Seriously, check out the little red airplane below for kids haircuts.

We came back to the Hocking’s home for the girls to get ready.  I love the colors Will and Elizabeth chose.  You can also see Elizabeth’s attention to detail throughout the day, with most of the decorations she created herself.  She even did her own flowers.

On their way to the location where they’ll see each other for the first time…

The ceremony site was just up the street from the Hocking’s home.  It was gorgeous and actually overlooks the river. Thanks Elizabeth and Will for letting us be part of your special day. You were a joy to work with.  Congrats!

{ambrosia & daniel married} – emily rae photography – grand rapids, michigan wedding photographer

Daniel and Ambrosia were married the last Saturday in May at Frederik Meijer Gardens.  It was a gorgeous day and location for this fantastic couple. The girls started their day at Design 1 with hair, pedicures and manicures.  Then headed to the gardens to get ready for the ceremony.  The ceremony was in the conservatory and it was perfect!  We ended the night with a reception at Mojo’s.  Thank for letting me be a part of your special day Ambrosia and Daniel.  Congrats!
